Well, all bets are off. My swap did not turn out well (Dennis, quit
laughing and yes, I owe you a cold one...) It seems that I must have had
some hellacious bubbles that I bled out old school style. To no avail.
It's possible the filter (a short version "similar" to the specified one
since I added the 86 and up oil cooler to a 1.9 case and didn't want to
deal with the hassle of messing with the exhaust) could be an issue but not
sure why. It seems that at 2200 rpm, the oil pressure buzzer and light go
off no matter which "similar" filter I used. So, now, I will have to take
the cooler off. If it works, so be it. If not, I bought a boat anchor and
it will have to be pulled. I can put the cooler and new hoses back on a
properly prepped and built up 2.1 after that so either way, I have more
work to do. If any one knows of something that could be an issue
otherwise, please speak up.
Regardless, thanks for all the advice and a few good laughs over more
Vanagon buffoonery on my part. It's all harmless.
