Ok, so I have a little horde of Vanagon axles from auto and manual vans.. I just checked and I have 6 axles. No problem, the manual trans axles will be the same length and the auto will be different, one long, one short.

Well, unless I'm seeing things, all 6 axles appear to be different lengths. The CV's are installed but I pushed them in to see the axle shaft end.

So I will need to devise a semi precise measuring device or knock all the CV's off and use a tape measure.

No time for that now so the mystery continues.

Question: is the long shaft the same or match the long shaft of the manual tranny?

If so - I have a spare. If not - well, I'll have to do something about that. If I have a spare long shaft - I need the short shaft.

Anyone with a used short shaft got one they care to dispose of??

Thanks,

John
