Ok, to riddle me this. A month ago I was preparing for another 1,200 mile trip to SW FL and giving the car a "once over". I'm poking around the engine and I find the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator disconnected. How long it was disconnected, I'll never know. I look around and push it back on a nipple on the bottom of the intake manifold. Almost immediately I notice the car hesitates/stumbles for about 2-3 seconds when coming off idle. That's a long time when pulling out into traffic from a stop sign. It almost like the old carbureted days when the accelerator pump didn't work and it went lean after the throttle was opened until the jets caught up the drop in vacuum. Once going it drives normal in every way. Nothing has changed. Fuel mileage is that same as it has ever been. Three weeks later, I have enough of this and I disconnected the vacuum line and drivability goes back to normal.

Any ideas as to what is going on here? Is there any long term harm to leaving this vacuum line off? Car is a young 91 2.1 wbx automatic.
