Like Dennis said, "Vanagon syndrom" and its cures have nothing to do with this. You need a remote starter switch to trouble shoot this by yourself. Two pieces of wire with a push button switch to connect them when pressed. Medium large alligator clips on the other ends, preferably with insulating sleeves. Reach forward under the firewall to connect one to the starter at the spade terminal and connect the other to the large terminal on the alternator to get +12v. Up front, put it in neutral and turn the ignition to "on". In the engine compartment prepare to check for spark by your preferred method. Press button. It may also be a good idea to listen for injector clicking, using a stethoscope or stick or something.

I suppose the usual suspects would include the Hall sender, the coil, and the ECU.

Good luck, Larry A.
