craigs list should have OBD2 readers. Possibly even GM specific readers. eBay for sure. A basic reader shouldn't be that much $

If I'm not mistaken, the CEL coming on can simply be a maintenance check reminder.

I know you love it when I speak of OBD (ignorantly mostly) but I gotta say that I may have solved my "Malfunction Indicator Light (CEL) sometimes coming on while driving" issue. At times I'd see an "Intermittent Short To Ground" code for the coolant sensor. I'd also seen a strange temp reading in VAG-COM (Rosstech) that appeared to coincide with RPM's, load conditions when that light would come on. (I couldn't "mark" the event as I was driving)

Turns out I'd missed connecting a "sensor" ground in the harness.

Connected that to frame. Whadda ya know; so far so good. Point is, it seems the OBD did it's job quite well. ;)
