Thanks guys.

Thought I'd go for a known good brand (Knipex) over the other but the latter does seem to be the better tool. I know that type of tool has been referred to here before.

I plan to reuse all the spring clamps and even saved all the spring clamps from my Jetta engine. Irony (proof?): the one clamp, so far, that is a PITA, is a worm gear type on a hose between oil cooler and metal pipe (IIRC). It wouldn't budge but with the coolant pump off, no problem I'm sure.
