John, this is a really common issue. Usually this is caused by a faulty temp II sensor. That is the blue sensor that is located in the thermostat housing. It becomes faulty and tells the computer that the engine is still cold. So the van starts up fine then once it warms up you go to a gas station, stop for gas and go to leave it is flooding the motor out. You can test this very easily. Unplug the sensor and using a paper clip, bridge the two pins inside the plug together. The van will start like this but you will have to hold your foot on the gas until it warms up. Once warm you can drive anywhere you want, shut it off, turn it back on, and it will be fine and not leave you stranded. Of course this is just a temporary fix that helps in an emergency. You need to replace your temp sensor as soon as you can. Let me know if I can help you further.
