Unless it is super, super nice, it isn't worth the asking price. I have
owned a few of these and the big issue is rust on the East Coast. They
didn't do as good of a job with rust proofing on the early EVs and most of
the 93s that come through here have more than their fair share of rust. I
retired the two that I owned because they were just too rusty. For $5500
you can usually find a newer one that is say a 2000. I would get one that
has extensive records. Getting parts that aren't just run of the mill turn
up items has always been a challenge for these vans. I need a part for a
Vanagon and I can get it very quickly and there is a big community
supporting them. For a Eurovan, not so much. They were popular in Europe
but even with that popularity, the parts have never been as well supported
as the Vanagon. I had a customer last year that needed a new engine
harness for his 99. I got the last one in the known universe for him. So
now if you need one, there aren't any. If I need a new engine harness for
a Vanagon, I order one and it is here in a week. This is just an example.
In my opinion I would rather ride in a Vanagon as well. Yes a later model
Eurovan is more power and comfortable, but the interior parts are more
cheesy, plastic is melting everywhere you look when it gets hot outside,
there is this bump in the floor where your left foot would normally sit,
and you have less room inside.
Don't get me started on Winnebago. Don't expect any support from them
whatsoever. They consider an RV they built two years ago as an "old"
model. The Eurovan Camper is something that they have orphaned long ago.
Just my opinion, but I have owned a few, and driven in, worked on and sold,
many, many more.
