In short, bad idea. Here's the problem, which is why I didn't put the UHMW tape under the roller bearing.

The tape is really for sliding surfaces. The roller puts extreme pressure tangentially on a tint area of flat plastic surface which is not what the tape was made for. The tape is extremely tough but does have a little resilience. So I am pretty sure it is inappropriate for use under the roller bearing that carries the weight of the door. I would say that it won't last long even under the best of circumstances. And being resilient, it probably adds resistance to the door.

BTW, I also added the UHMW tape to the top channel and it is working well, but I have the older nylon slider cube up there. Added bonus, no grease in the top channel! Much cleaner, me and my friends are no longer getting grease on our hair and clothes. You would be surprised how many people linger at the door grabbing the top and getting embarrassing black grease on their fingers. The tape has put an end to that problem.
