I would say 60-90 minutes each side for the cv joints...so two-three hours for both sides.  This assumes something will not go well...one or more heads stripped, cv joint does not want to come off the axle, etc.  I have done this many times...and each time I wonder why I do.  It is so much quicker to simply replace the cv joint. For rear brakes, to change the brakes and take the time to shim the bottoms appropriately and then adjust the handbrake...knowing that the drum hates to come off...1 1/2 hours for both sides.  This assumes the wheel cylinders are good and no bleeding is required. z On Monday, June 9, 2014 3:17 PM, John Schwartz <pa38112@ROADRUNNER.COM> wrote: What would be an average cost / time in hours from a shop to repack the CV joints and do the rear brakes.. looking for the labor, not the parts.
