I think a turbo prop could be much more forgiving than a piston engine
although I have no experience with them. I have seen diesels run on
gasoline/fuel oil mixtures and the noises can be quite amazing just before
the final bang. I have also seen gas engines accidentally get Diesel. That
is a lot less painful.

Just a side note - I used to fly Short Bros. Skyvans which had
Garrett-Air-research Turboprop engines - essentially a jet engine with a
gearbox and a propeller. They burned jet fuel - a high grade diesel fuel. In
Alaska, in winter, we switched to Arctic Diesel, basically a very clean fuel
oil, and the engines just ran along, happy as clams in sand. But in summer -
we would switch back to Jet fuel. In an EMERGENCY situation when jet or
arctic diesel was not available, leaded 80/87 aircraft fuel could be run
through the engines for a certain number of hours - and it wasn't that many
- after that - the engine fuels systems and certain other components had to
be taken apart and the engine cleaned thoroughly. It was actually overhaul
level work, though it was not specified as such.
Alternate fuels can be used but with the understanding of what they will do
to your engine.
