I had a NorCold 12v fridge in a Dodge van I owned. It kept me awake, despite many attempts to shut the thing up... In a quiet camp, that thing would cycle on and bother me. I might be weird but I really do not go camping to listen to mechanical noises, be they the neighbor's generators, someone's favorite Moodie Blues tape, or my own electric refrigerator cycling on and off...

I can hear the flame in my Dometic, too...but it's quite faint and it is a steady fluttery sound...We also have a pop top slide in truck camper with a nasty noisy heater...I hate that thing, but my S.O. loves the heat..

Before you swap out a Dometic propane you should listen closely to those electric ones...and imagine what that will sound like to you when you are out on a very still night somewhere far from the noisy world...
