That's good news despite the bad story!

This van lives right around the corner from me. Glad to see it will be back. There is another Westy just one block away parked in a driveway, and another tin top around the corner (north Seattle is Vanagon central). Mine is also in my driveway and has an alarm, and this one was parked on the street next to a church parking lot right off Greenwood Ave, a very busy street.

My daughter in law's '96 Subaru was stolen off the street nearby on Memorial Day Weekend, and was just recovered last week. Because the ignition had a screwdriver jammed into it, it was left in the ACC position and drained the battery the first night. It took this long for someone to complain about the abandoned car in front of their house and now it's back, ransacked. The cop who found the car said The Club works well for old cars, he's never seen one stolen here in Seattle with one installed. She has one now.

Install the visible deterrent of your choice and these jerks will just look for an easier mark, and there are plenty of them.

Stuart

The green Vanagon Westy reported stolen in Seattle yesterday has been recovered! And a very interesting story goes with it: <http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=7244039#7244039> It may have been all the way to Corvalis, Or. and back in the process.
