I did this to reduce the movement, sleeved the table leg using PVC with a thin cutting board liner.  Damps the movement nicely while still letting you move it when you want.  We also moved the front table to the rear position and parked the rear table in our garage.  Front table leg now replaced by galvanized pipe-with-flange step for upper bunk access.

A more sophisticated fix is to glue a piece of rubber on the flange that is pushed against the pole by the screw.
