I made my own "Key" for the water filler door. Cut it from a piece of
carbon fiber. I have mine on my gas key ring.. You could use almost any
substance, it's just a slight projection, rectangular...easy ...
.
Here's a unique and amusing gas station thing...In Oregon they have a law
that prohibits you from pumping your own gasoline...so when you get gas
there you hand the gas jockey your key and your credit card or cash and sit
there while he/she pumps it,...But about 9 out of ten of these attendants
can not figure out the Vanagon gas cap....They do fine getting it off, fill
the tank and then they over-think how the cap works, or something...You can
see and hear them fumbling around over there and imagine they've turned the
key before putting the cap on, or they try to put the cap on and wait to
feel some kind of tactile indication of engagement, like a radiator cap or
something... I don't have power windows so it's a real stretch to reach
the window handle and tell them...plus it is hard to explain that you just
shove the thing on and turn the key..."No Glass, No Napkin"...
I often jump out and put the cap on for them (easier than trying to explain
it)...Oregon allows me to cap my own fuel tank.
You are allowed to fill your own motorcycle or diesel...
