But presumably there was one in there when he brought the car into the shop. If it doesn't have one now, and that turns out to be his problem, there will be no question as to who has to fix it. If it's not there, there's only one way it could not be there. They probably have some fine print in their work agreement that they will pay for the defective part but not consequential damage : ( Jim
