Yeah. If you want to learn something, only change one at a time, otherwise you lose your control. Just do the O2 sensor and see if you get a fix.

The condition of the sensor you pulled sounds not too far off normal, except the soot would indicat a rich mixture, which makes sense if you have a bad contact with the sensor. If disconnected, you tend to run full rich.
