My ultimate Vanagon Westfalia search would end with a 1991 Atlantic Edition - turbo diesel ... and, since it's my dream, let's make the colour Kirschrot (LA3E) or Calypso Metallic Green (LA6Z).

I recently stumbled across one for sale:

http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=161345586239&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:de

As you can see, ultimate dreams have ultimate price tags {especially when you add another $2k for import costs}.

They posted lots photos of the process. The candidate Wohnmobil is quite a rusty specimen - as have been all but one of the German imported California's and Atlantics I have examined to-date. While there they show the seam cleaning and treatment, it appears there was no metal replacement, just fibre body fill {at times, in quantity}. It also does not appear that they removed/replaced all that dreaded fibreglass batt insulation.

I've sent an e-mail off with lots of questions, but I fear my search shall continue :-(

Roy
