Raymond,

Not sure what kind of "kit" you're looking at, but I'd highly recommend flushing the system with a commercial A/C flush product if you're going to change to R-134A. Mineral oil is used for R-12, and it doesn't dissolve in R-134A, so you'll have to add a POE or PAG oil to lubricate the compressor. At best, you'll have more oil in the system than you should, further reducing the cooling efficiency (which with R-134A will be reduced enough as-is). And make sure you replace the receiver/drier (~$17 on line from ACKits.com, or Nostalgicair.com) at the same time - you'll need to remove it to flush anyway.

I have my Ben= tley book, and I'm going to pick up a R134a conversion kit during the week. Thanks, Raymond
