I think the biggest advantage of The Club (along with an alarm with flashing light and window sticker) is the visual deterrent.  Keep the bums from even bothering to break into the car.  If they get in, destroy your ignition switch and can't start the car, then they might just ransack and vandalize the insides for spite.
