Well, that's a darn good question. I reckon that the wood chips, being wrapped in foil as they are, are pretty self-contained. They're not on fire or smoldering, the isn't sufficient oxygen for them to light. I don't toss them on the ground at the end of the day, but just put the foil package with the spent chips inside in my waste basket the next day.

That'll be my argument, anyways. I'll report back.
