a very handy thing to do to a stock diesel vanagon drain plug is to weld a 3/4 nut to the top of it . they get all chinggered up and rounded off over the years.. this fix solves that issue very nicely.

all exposed metal needs to be treated one way or another to keep it from rusting. My fav spray paint is Zero Rust spray paint.. the very best spray paint I have ever found.
