Subject wheel covers are on my '84 Vanagon.  Van had been out-of-service
for several months as a vehicle with A/C was available.  Situation
changed yesterday, and I had to get van back in service.  RR tire was
visibly low and and tire valve stem was behind the wheel cover.   Pried
off the wheel cover, got out the air compressor, and pumped up tire to
specs.  Wheel cover would not go back on   The circular spring wire
always wanted to come out of the wheel cover.  Please note that this
wheel cover probably had not been off for at least five years if not
longer.  Is there a secret to getting the wheel cover back on?
