This 'almost' sounds like the Syncro Doka the owner and I have for sale. ( located Southern OR ...$ 15,500 ..it's on thsSamba I believe. )

re ZZZ Vin .. this might be helpful. This is a Canadian model that the current owner purchased in Calfifornia and had it towed to me in So. Oregon. I put in a 1.9 TD AAZ engine ...a pretty tight one too. I used a diesel vanagon bell housing and 82 engine bars , modified slightly to lower the engine to 'syncro' lower height . I used a Honda airbox , mounted behind the left tail light. The engine cover was always missing ...the owner was happy to have me just toss on a piece of plywood.

about VIN's .. I got the van with no dash at all. It has an 87 Dash in it, and no Dash Vin Plate ( if I remember corectly, I will be with this doka in a week., to sell it. No buyer yet that I know of ...I will be there with the signed title for part of July and a little of August.

The VIN tag on the door frame shows it's a Canadian model, and that VIN matches the clean Oregon title's VIN. the 'body VIN' ..underneath by the jacking point . That has the ZZZ's in it. When I went to register and title the rig in OR for the owner ..I knew the Or DMV would say I had to go see a State Cop or someone for a VIN verification. I did, driving it up to Grants Pass ....oddly ...the state cop who does this works in a shop at ODOT .Oregon Dept of Transportation ..the highway fixer people. We have a fun ole time....with a VW like this you will very commonly run into people telling you how they were in the Air Force in Germany back in the 80's and had one, or saw them ..blah blah blah.

The cop is like that. He looks carefully at the VIN down below ...the title, and the door frame VIN .. and writes up that the lower frame VIN is 'a derivative' of the Driver's door frame VIN .. and all is kosher. It's been titled and registered in Oregon the last 3 or more years. I've just kept it alive and happy in all that time... it's probably only drive 60 miles in the last 5 years. It runs great too.

let me know if interested in purchasing it.
