yes..that's the 'whole idea' .. to keep 12VDC going to the coil during starting cranking.

other circuits that run when the key is on ..wiper, headlights etc... are bypassed in the ign sw during cranking .

they get their power from the X terminal of the ign sw. You can observe this by having your headlights on ....and watch them go out during starter cranking.
