Try lighting a stove burner for a few minutes before you light the fridge..

Mine has a side to side sliding analog line indicator... that indicates it is lit....I love that compared to most of the Dometics I have owned with the crappy little sight window that hardly ever worked very well to see the flames. Mine works great most of the time...stays lit when driving and lasts at least 3 wks on a 5 gallon bottle that I keep under the sink...I like em..
