Good evening, Last week at this time I enlisted the help of the list in solving a problem I was having with my starter. By Wednesday, I ran a new wire from the solenoid to the ignition switch. Starter problem solved...or so I thought. One listee suggested an upgraded starter wiring harness from That VW Bus Guy. I not only ordered that but also a kit to upgrade the wiring from the alternator. This afternoon I started putting the new harnesses in. Part of the installation required removing the old wiring. So as I was clipping away the various wire ties holding the main harness in the front of the engine compartment. I noticed that the harness shielding was burned and melted. Long story short, the wiring harness from the idle stabilizer relay is melted into a blob. The main culprit appears to be a black wire. This wire is intact near where the harness splits off to the ECU and to the relay box and injectors on the left side of the engine compartment. I now need the main wiring harness in the engine compartment, or at least the section from the split to the ECU so that I can splice a replacement in. Anyone have a engine compartment wiring harness for an 87 Westy, with A/C, cruise and manual trans for sale? Thanks. Ric
