AAA gives the distance from Edmond, OK to Spokane, WA as 1746.4 miles. That's right at $1.12 per mile. I was quoted $1450 ($0.83 per mile) to ship my Prius. Of course, if I drive the Prius, I will use about 35 gallons of gas, and will have 2 hotel nights (or $125 for gas plus $180 for hotels = $305) plus meals. If I drive the camper, I will use 100 gallons of gas (including finding camping stops), will have 4 nights of camping, probably paying for 2 of them (or $350 for gas plus $40 for camping) plus meals. The trip out to Spokane looks to cost me a little more with the van, but the difference will be less than the shipping cost difference. My household stuff will go in "Pods." That's another story, and more appropriate for Friday, but I won't trouble you with it at all.
Of course, my wife says we are to drive the van out, take care of some business out there, leave the van and fly back, then drive out in the Prius. Lots more cash out that way for sure.
Blair at Riteway said the van has to go on a different trailer than a normal car trailer because of its height, accounting for some of the cost difference. What exactly is the height for a Westy?
