The damaged fuel injection harness is a separate piece and not that bad to change in its entirety. There are other sub-harness sections in the engine compartment but those can be left undisturbed. Just try to get an 87 or newer version of the complete FI harness. There are slight differences over the years but other than avoiding the early 86 version any other version would match up fine. A/C, cruise, and trans type don't matter.

Trying to splice in sections of the FI harness is complicated by the fact that various wire colors changed a few times. Look at the wires to the idle control unit. The wire colors and pins for 1987 and late 1986 match but not other years.
