The bed hasn't failed no matter what or who we put up there, but a kid did fall to the floor once. Amazingly resilient little buggers. We were lucky, and I would not want it to happen again. They were about three at the time (I don't remember which twin it was) and we made a bumper out of a rolled up blanket or two, which worked, and made sure they slept with heads to the rear. They outgrew the problem pretty quickly.
