well........ *what kind* of 2.2 engine ??

enhanced waterboxer ? Subaru EJ22 ?

a plastic wire tie can be used as a dipstick ...stick it down into the trans through the filler hole .. you can get a wire tie in about 3 , even 4 inches that way.
