Subject: Clutch Master Cylinder Rebuild: Core Quality?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Hi all.

I have at least 2 spare "unknown" cylinders. In terms of picking the better quality core, what do I look for? Or, hydraulic fluid age not withstanding, is clutch master cylinder life span mostly determined by the quality of rubber used in the plunger or elsewhere?

My fairly low mileage 6 year old clutch master cylinder is likely failing. I'm sure that a somewhat overdue (time wise) fluid bleed during that time didn't help its' life span (image of fluid: http://tinyurl.com/cwhuurs ) but I have to wonder of new parts quality.

I have a new cylinder to install but it would be interesting to hone and rebuild one or both. I've never honed anything but have a brake wheel cylinder honing tool.

Neil.
