This likely doesn't apply, but a combination of dirt and die electric grease at the door switch on my '88 Westy must've allowed enough current to flow so LED dome light would glow, door closed.

I didn't measure the current flow, but it must have been minute. At first I assumed that a glowing LED (festoon) was a sign that it was burning out but I don't think that's the case.
