Subject: Fresh water tank leaking via vent.

All,
I seem to recall very topic being posted to the list not that long ago, but seem unable to find it searching my Vanagon folder ... I apologise in advance for the redundancy.
The 3.5 year old and I have been on the road for almost a week in our new-to-us '88 Westfalia ... which my son has aptly and affectionately named "The Hyena" {Sorry Don.}. Things are well mechanically thus far - the only issue is the lines to the overflow tanks need to be replaced. I bought some line in Calgary and will attend to it, the first chance I get. In the interim, you stop filling when the pump kicks out. The side mirrors also need replaced, but have enough visible area to get us along for now. Oh, ... and I broke one of the fresh-air control knobs off this afternoon which moving the slider.
The camping gear, on the other hand, has a couple of issues. The main of these being that water is leaking from the vent to the fresh water tank/system under the van. It did not start leaking until after we used water through the faucet for the first time - which was 2-days after I had filled it. Since the, it has left a puddle everywhere we parked. An additional observation is that it takes 5-10 seconds from the time the faucet is turned, until you get water - which may be normal behaviour for the Vanagon sink faucet.
Also, when I filled the tank, the LED lights light Amber with the green faintly glowing. Now the green is glowing fully, but we are less than half a tank remaining.
Whomever posted this a month or two back, what was the ultimate cause of the "incontinence"?
The second issue is the "frig" does not want to light. I have had it light twice {both time after it had been plugged in for some time and was cold}, but it went out almost immediately. This was fine until last night, which was the first time we did not have an electric hookup on the trip. I'll try Alistair's "pump until resolution or death" approach and see where that gets me.
