I'm lubricating and re-booting the CV Joints on my 1990, manual trans Westy. When I disconnected my right inboard CV joint, gear oil poured out of the center of the Drive Flange because the center sealing plug had fallen out. I've got new plugs to install, but my question is this: What seals the the Outside Diameter of the Drive Flange? Bentley 35.2 shows the Drive Flange in detail, including the center sealing plug, but I don't see how the gear oil is prevented from running out from around the outside of the shaft. Looking at the evidence of my transmission leak/seep, it sure seems like I've got some seepage there. Can the Drive Flange Outer Diameter be sealed without removing and tearing down the transmission?
