My 1990 Syncro Doka has different gas tank filler pipe location than
regular syncro, & of course 2wd vanagons. No bad gas smells from the tank
which holds 18 gallons, but I have put over 19 (yikes!) in it in different
gas stations between CA & Maine.
YMMV!
