One such is DeLorme's, published as _Atlas of the Roads of xxxxxxxxxx_ . They are available from Amazon of course, and other online book vendors. Cabella's carries them. Many truck stops do. Barnes and Noble. Lots of places to buy them. Very handy. Show all highways, county roads, Forest Service Roads, and so on. Even private roads (unfortunately, not necessarily delineated as such on the maps). The Texas DeLorme's includes most cities of any size as well, with street detail. Most National Parks get their own page. All public lands are color coded for type (BLM, Forest Service and so on).

Great resource. I've gone through several copies for Texas and a couple of other states (binding is ok, but paper and wears, and pages can come out eventually). This is one item I definitely do not leave home without, for whatever states I'll be visiting or passing through. I still don't travel with a GPS unit, though I have considered getting one.
