I recently picked up a used ecu as a spare to carry. While in camp last night, I swapped the ecus out and was surprised to see heat damage to a few components on the old ecu. I disconnect the battery before welding on my bus but a couple of shops did exhaust repair on it without disconnecting the battery. That said, the ecu parts could've been burned by a PO or caused by my then newb engine swap electrical work.
