Subject: Travel Weirdness (warning; tires. ;)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8

Just after the rear a arm (trailing arm) is repaired, a few hundred yards from the repair shop, as I'm accelerating uphill, the engine feels like it has a huge miss. I'd replaced the ecu so assumed it caused this. It has been fine though and an improvement. Another story. Anyhow, Minutes later, I hear a clicking noise from the LR tire. It looked like there was a galvanized nail in the tire but it wasn't leaking air.

A small rock had burrowed its way into the tread face! Like it had to be pried out! Les Schwab inspected the tire, it's ok for now. Of note, I'm running studdable Nokian 14" winter tires. I suspect the tread compound is softer than most. Running these tires year round is an experiment of sorts.

Is this kind of thing uncommon?

Learning as I go,

Neil.
