I'll check the vacuum line going to the ECM again.
Thanks.

Not sure which engine management you have ,
but if yours has an Air Flow Meter ..I would consider that compoenent.
( which I had once ....cut out at speed..turned out to be a dead spot on the
contacts in the AFM ).
if your system is really like a 92 Eurovan 2.5 5 cylinder those don't have
an Air Flow Meter or an Air Mass Meter either.
if this applies to the original poster's van ....one thing to check on such
a fuel system is the vacuum line going from engine to ECU ..there's a MAP
sensor in the ECU ...
anything wonky about that rubber line can cause running issues.

Tony,
I have not changed the fuel filter yet. It is post pump. Pump sound pretty
normal. No idea what's in the tank or how old it is.
I don't think it is a filter obstruction, when I've had that issue, the
engine will cut out and start coughing at the upper RPMs when the most fuel
is needed.
I do have a filter waiting under the rear seat, since I intended to change
it after I had bought Blaze over a year ago.
Thanks for your input.

Dick,
Have you changed your fuel filter recently? Is it post pump? Any cavitation
sounds or whining from the pump? Is the tank newer, free of crud?
When I have these issues I check for gunk slushing in the tank and creating
an obstruction. These first happened to me a highway speeds. Much like you
described. It was simpler as I have the square pre pump filter still. Every
so often I have to blow bubbles into the tanks outlet hose to clear
obstructions inside at the screen of the tank.

Well here goes. Don't know if any of you have this engine
configuration, but since it's a Vanagon, I'm asking here first.
Now that Blaze is back on the road, I get a miss/hiccup when moving
with no load on the engine. I've only noticed this in fourth gear and
have not tried it in any other gear yet.
Typical situation: In fourth gear, level ground, steady speed. While
in this mode, the engine will suddenly lose power for several seconds,
then recover. It's not a sputter, it's a sudden loss. No dash lights
illuminate, tach is steady, no CEL. All this happens in the 1800 to
2800 rpm range (approximately). I've never experienced this before.
When accelerating or decelerating through this rpm range, it never
happens, only when at a steady speed. At freeway speeds, 3500 - 4500 rpm,
I don't see this issue.
Digifant (023906023), 2.5L, 5 cylinder, new Bosch plug wires, new
Bosch dist. cap, new Bosch rotor.
Since this is basically a Eurovan setup, that's my next stop.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
