Another experienced Vanagon owner recently told me that the steering rack bushing upgrade they did really improved handling of cross winds. This was for a manual steering rack.

As have others, I've noticed (and posted a video) how much the rack moves on the bushings. Even when bushings are new. I observed this while turning the steering rod by hand while under my Vanagon, so this obviously doesn't replicate what happens with all parts concerned while driving, but I was surprised at the movement none the less.

I look forward to upgrading the steering rack bushings. Thanks again for the blog post.

Neil.
