And if I may add, be sure that any treatments such as Fluid Film be completely removed from the area behind or otherwise near the seam. It may creep past the sealant and stain the exterior paint. BTDT, no don't ask! ;)

ProForm makes a nice seam sealer. This may be the correct stuff:

It may not be that user friendly for the lesser experienced body person. Of which I am one!
