on your diesel van, remove the wire from the OP switch at the forward end of the cylinder head and ground it, like with a small jumper wire which should be in your kit with your 12V test light at all times.

Then turn on the key.

if the LED comes on, the entire circuit is working except for the OP Switch.

this is the first , easiest, and most no-brainer test for this circuit.
