I have rebuilt ones for $250 plus $100 core charge.  Used ones are hit
and miss.  We had a customer here with a non-running Syncro that had
been off of the road of at least 10 years.  We brought it back to life,
and inside there were two ECUs.  I installed one of them and the van ran
but then started bucking and cutting out after about an hour of
driving.  No problem, installed the other used one. Problem fixed for a
short time then started doing it again. Installed rebuilt unit, fixed.
Would have saved the customer some headaches if we had installed the
rebuilt unit from the get go.  The original ECUs had manufacturing
defects (digifant) and they aren't getting better as they age.  Rebuilt
units we sell repair the known defects along with any other problems the
ECUs happen to have.  Been selling them for over 10 years and the defect
rate is very close to zero (I think I have had two returned after a year
or two of use, we repaired them and sent them back out of over 70 that
we have sold). Pay now or pay later as they say.
