Thank you for your support and contributions of reviews to the Roadhaus.com VW Shop Reviews database.

In December of 2003, in Rapid City, SD, in a snow storm with single digit temps, the Roadhaus decided it would be a good time to burn a piston and need a partial engine rebuild.

Thanks to input from a local list member, I got her towed to a great shop, Import Service owned by Rocky Stetler.

It became clear that I was going to be there a while, camping in the Roadhaus at night and in their tiny customer waiting room during the day.

I remember thinking, "I sure wish we had an online database of VW Bus friendly shops in North America"-- a tool that bus travelers could use to locate a trustworthy mechanic while in an unfamiliar town.

So during that 2-3 week period, I spent several hours a day working on the 1st version of the Roadhaus's "VW BUS / VAN / EUROVAN & RIALTA SHOP REVIEWS" database:

I think Version One had 25-50 shops scattered across the U.S.

Most of the early data came from Ron Lussier's Vanagon.com & Steve Schwenk's Syncro.org web sites, with their permission, of course.

Fortunately I included a link where shop customers could submit reviews of their experiences with a given shop.

Thanks to your support and ongoing submittals of Shop Reviews .... this database now has 1051 VW Shops & 4176 Reviews for the USA, Canada & a bit of Mexico.

And it continues to grow every week. Please keep the reviews coming at:

Good adventures,

larry & maggie
