Neil, IMHO the OEM spring clamps are superior in every way. I always reuse them as long as they do not look distorted from their originals shape. They clamp the the hose with constant pressure, so they tighten up as needed when the hose becomes hot, soft and pliable. They are very easy to work with if you have the proper tools for them. Hand plier or remote plier both are needed depending on the location. If you find you need any new ones I have all sizes in stock: <http://www.frankcondelli.com/staging1/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=61_93>
