Pros use solvents like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-00f-Ye59_g But to do it right it takes multiple applications or you get "fish eyes" in the paint.

If anyone ever has to do any paintwork to this vehicle you will hear them cursing for miles. Silicone is the worst thing to apply anywhere on the exterior of a vehicle, unless of course you have no reason to ever paint it. Some painters might even refuse to touch it.
