With 5 ex's in my back pocket (73,75,79,79,89, & current 86) I can say with
confidence
that i feel much more safe with the improvements in suspension of the later
models.
I spent a few years in Utah dealing with wicked crosswinds that kept me
under 45 mph
and barely on two wheels in the bay models. My 89 & 86 cut thru the same
winds like butter...
Also of note, with my older models I could pretty much fix most issues
myself when on the road.
The newer vans have forced me to be a little more diligent in hunting down
"that funny sound"
before heading out for a long 3 day weekend since things tend to be a
little more complex.
