This is the one I have < http://www.harborfreight.com/non-contact-pocket-thermometer-93983.html>, works great for telling what hot, what's not & the difference between the two. Left brake vs right brake & radiator hoses are just a few of the times I've used it. Also works well for telling me when my coffee water is just right..
