As I recall the only rubber gasket was the one that was used to hold the tent to the rain gutter, not around the sliding door. Instead of using the pole-clamped-into-the-rain-gutter attachment method commonly used today, these old ones used a rubber channel that you slid onto the lip of the rain gutter. I had one of these tents when my daily driver was a '77 Westy (as it is meant for Buses, not Vanagons). Sliding the channel onto the rain gutter was a bit of a pain. Even the least bit of dirt or rust would make it snag. I used to spray the rain gutter with WD40 first, and then my wife and I would slowly slide the channel on a bit at a time from font to rear, moving the Bus forward periodically as we did it until the sliding door opening lined up. It took a while. I really miss the '77 Westy but not so much the tent; I found it to be much less practical than modern designs. That being said, it was a very cool looking in a vintage way, and drew a lot of compliments.
